Here we are!
Almost through week 27 and growing bigger and bigger as each week passes.
I know that I have grown since I was admitted into the hospital because last night while I was on the monitors, I noticed stretch marks that were definitely not on my tummy two weeks ago. Staring at my stretched belly and seeing those fresh marks actually made me happy; crazy right? What woman is ever happy to see new stretch marks!? Well, I can tell you this, seeing that stretched out skin made me realize how important my role is to this little girl growing inside of me. It makes me feel like I am accomplishing something and those marks are proof that I am doing exactly what I should be. I never thought that I would be a woman who embraces her stretch marks until I sat there staring at my belly and watching it bounce around, knowing that this little girl is completely worth it. I will no longer be ashamed or embarrassed of my stretch marks because they are proof that I am a tiger earning her stripes. So ladies, if you happen to develop stretch marks during pregnancy, be proud of them! If you never got any, don't worry, you are still earning those stripes with each day that your belly grows.
I am coming up on day fifteen in the hospital and I have to ask, what is it about being in the hospital that makes you look like crap? I can shower every day here and still look like I just rolled out of bed, where as if I were at home, I would look freshly showered. I don't get it! Maybe it has something to do with being in a bed all day and only being able to get up on occasion. Or maybe it is because I have not been outside in over two weeks? I CRAVE fresh air and Florida's humidity! I have actually forgotten what the sun feels like on face. Needless to say I am beyond ready to go home and am hoping that when I hit my 28 week mark that the doctors will let me be on bed rest at home.
This week we started our weekly ultrasound appointments in order to keep track of baby's growth and to monitor the water sac. Despite the given circumstances, I am looking forward to seeing my little one once a week.
She is still head down and always sucking on her little baby fist. She is looking fantastic and I was told that everything looks great. I wish that meant that we could go home, but I think they are waiting for me to reach 28 weeks for sure before determining that.
The other night I asked my nurse what this hard spot was just above my belly button and she said it was baby's heiny. I just couldn't get over the fact that I had been poking her in the booty. =P
In the meantime, I am doing my best to keep myself busy. I mostly sleep or catch up on my favorite blogs; I have actually come across several more blogs that I intend to follow. A lot of them have really good reviews on cloth diapers and a lot of them are also have giveaways!
I find giveaways to be so much fun! To me it is like gambling but without losing anything. Plus filling out all of the entries is fun and passes a ton of time. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my name is pulled for something! It is definitely a mood booster when you have found out that you won something for your baby.
But other than that, this week has been rather uneventful.
Next week should hopefully be better. :) I have a glucose tolerance test, I am going to be getting a Rhogam shot, an ultrasound on Wednesday, and hopefully being discharged (keeping my fingers crossed!). If I am not discharged, I have my sister flying down to be with us until little miss is born to cheer me up. I have never been so excited to see my little sister before!! It will definitely be nice having a familiar face here with us. I also have my baby shower to look forward to! We have decided to keep everything the same and Brian and I will just be joining everyone via Skype. I am excited and anxious to see how it turns out.
